12 on the 12th - Take 12 photos today!

Today is the 12th of January.  So, if you are planning to do 12 on the 12th in 2012, this is the day you need to take 12 (or more) photos.  Then you can choose the best twelve and make a two page layout with the photos.  At the end of the year you'll have an interesting look back at your year (and at least one completed album!).

I thought about taking my twelve photos on Wednesday so I could post them early this morning but I decided that I'd rather do this project right along with any of you that have decided to try it.  You could take the photos randomly throughout the day and capture a "Day in the Life" photo essay.  Another option would be to focus on a certain aspect of your life such as a hobby, a particular room in your house, a color that shows up throughout your day - just get creative and see what catches your attention as you look around your world today.

It may help to spend a few minutes thinking up a list of likely photos and then being flexible enough to follow the list or adapt to new ideas as the day goes along.  Once you finish taking the photos, don't stop there!  Be sure to move them to your computer, edit them and get them printed (if you are making traditional pages) or start working on your digital layout.

So enjoy the challenge and see what you notice as you look carefully around you.  Your photos don't have to be perfect - they just need to capture a thought or emotion that strikes you as you go through the day.  I'll try to have my photos edited and ready to share tomorrow.

The photo at the top of this post is one that I took of our live Christmas tree when we took it down last weekend.  I am planning to use it for a page background in a digital layout.

Someone asked to see the assembled heart handled bag - I used the offcut hearts and swirls from the top of this bag for the card I posted a few days ago.  I cut this bag using one of the free files included with the purchase of the Silhouette Cameo.  I think it will be great for Valentine's Day surprises!

A few more notes...

If you are looking for the information about the Creative Memories 25% off nearly everything sale, please click HERE to go to yesterday's post.  This is a great time to buy one or more of the Creative Memories exclusive Cricut cartridges.  The sale is only for five days and ends on Sunday the 15th.

Blitsy posted this notice on their Facebook page yesterday -
We apologize! Our vendors ran late in shipping our order last week and did not arrive in time for us to post today's items. Tracking shows them arriving here on Friday morning. So we will have to wait until then to post our next sale. Thank you for your understanding.
So - we'll have to wait until Friday to find out what is going to be for sale next!
We may actually get our first storm of the winter today - we've been spoiled with such a mild winter so far (but I have been enjoying the warm days!).

  3. Well, I've decided to try the picture I day, only it's a picture a day by my dog and he started late. Dogs aren't very good with calendars, you know. My son was also home from college and that was a distraction for our dog, hee hee. Your 12 on 12 ideas are very good too. Is your head smoking? ;- ) I can't wait to see the photos you get when you and Enfys get together. I'm sure you will get some great ones. Have a great day!

I'm enjoying the mild winter so far too (although I'm sick of rain!), but we're getting snow tonight....hope not much.

  5. I took some photos from my hotel room in Nashville. I have included them on my blog if you want to see them. I only took 4. This year I plan on taking as many city type photos during my work trips.
