A New Year is nearly here...Thank You

Today I will have completed three years of daily posting on my blog.  It is quite a challenge to keep up with posting every single day.  I made a New Year's resolution to post daily in 2009.  By the time I finished the first year, I was in the habit of daily posting and I was a bit too stubborn to stop and break the record in 2010 and 2011!

I actually started this blog almost four years ago and I have plans for a special "blogoversary" celebration at the beginning of February.  I have learned a lot and shared a lot over the years.  It has been so much fun to get to know many people through comments and questions and I have been very lucky to have had the chance to meet quite a few of my "virtual" friends in person.

I have decided that it may be time to change the way I post.  I need to give myself more time to work on projects that won't always be things that I can share on the blog.  Many of you write and tell me that you look forward to reading my posts with your morning coffee and I don't want to let you down.  I need to make some of my posts much shorter and sometimes post just a photo or a quote for inspiration.

I am planning to do more posts that encourage you to participate and try new things.  I'll be starting with the "virtual ATC swap" that we talked about last month.  I am also thinking about doing a "simple scrapbook pages" series for those of you who want to make your photos and stories the stars of your pages (and who don't want to spend hours or days on a single page).  This could be the year to finally tackle the "backlog" and make some sense of it all!

I have been asked to do some more giveaways for companies and I will take on a few of these, however, I don't want this to become a "giveaway blog".  I would like people to come here because they find inspiration, honest and fair information about products, and help and instruction for learning how to use their crafting tools and technology.

Today I want to say thanks to all of you who continue to read and comment on my blog.  I have collected some favorite Thank You cards from the past years - you may or may not remember these.  You should be able to click on each photo to go to the original post.  Many of these posts included detailed directions with screenshots and files.  Please let me know if you have any trouble with the links.

I have some other plans in the works for this year and I will share them as soon as I can.  This could be a very exciting year if everything comes together the way I hope it will!

Something funny...

My son pointed out that I have now a Gypsy and a Vagabond - we wonder what will come next, a "Hobo" or a "Scoundrel"?

A few more "enabling" notes...

Northridge Publishing is holding a giveaway for a new Silhouette Cameo - you must enter by January 4th and you can get all of the details on their blog HERE.  Just leaving a comment on their post gets you in the contest and there are additional ways to get multiple entries listed.

If you have any Cricut Lite or Cricut Projects and Events cartridges that you haven't entered for the rewards program be sure to do it TODAY to get double rewards points (must be entered between 12/1/11 and 12/31/11 to qualify).  You can find the Cricut Rewards site HERE.

The Creative Memories Year End sale was extended to January 1st.  They will be having an album sale from January 2-26th.  20%  off on many colors and styles.  Digital StoryBooks printed at the CM Digital Center are also included in the album sale. The new Cricut cartridge "This and That" will be available in January.

The second chance sale at Blitsy runs until January 3.  Quite a few items have been "blitsed" (sold out) but there are some nice items (Spellbinders, Tim Holtz, Ranger, Stickles, La Blanche stamps, 7Gypsies, etc.) still available.  On Wednesday, January 4th, they'll be posting new sales and will start following the Monday, Wednesday, Friday schedule again.

Lettering Delights  dollar days sale is continuing.  Most items are just $1 (Graphic sets, fonts, alphabets, clip art, paper packs, doodlebats, candy wraps, etc.) and the Cut-its and SVGs are 50% off.  If you spend $50 you can take $20 off with the code newyear20.  If you don't want to spend that much, you can "buy" the monthly freebie and when your confirmation email arrives there will be a code for 25% off your next order.

(clicking on the red words will take you to the sites mentioned).

Have a safe and happy New Year's Eve Celebration!!!

  1. Happy New Year Diane! I have always enjoyed your blog...one of my favs! I do look forward to reading it each and every day, but please know that most people do understand you have a life also. You do what you need to do and most people will understand...if they don't, well I guess that's their problem.

Thank you for all the wonderful tutorials you have posted over the years, many I have printed the instructions and they have been added to my expanding notebook. What I love about your tutorials is you go into deep explanations when needed and it really helps! Thank you so much!

I have to say I love your son's comment, he has a good sense of humor and at least he takes interest in what you do!

Have a safe New Year's Eve and I look forward to another wonderful year with Diane!

  2. Thank you also for your unbiased reviews. I guess when a blogger gets freebies to give away, it's harder to be unbiased.

  3. All the Thanks go to you, Diane. Yours was the first blog I ever saw and subscribed to. I have always marveled at those who continue to blog everyday, even at the busiest times of the year. I haven't posted on mine since December 6. I will be going south for two months and will not be able to do any Cricutting. I have a lot that I need to make before I go so I'll try to post anyway. When I run out, I'll take a cue from you and just post inspirations or pictures, etc. Thanks again for a wonderful blog.

  5. Diane, your blog was the first I subscribed to and the only one I read every day. I have been with you from almost the beginning and have learned so much from you.

Even though I love the detail of your posts, I would rather you keep it going with shorter posts and the occasional long one if that makes this doable for you!!

I would love to see some simple pages post. Most of the "scrapbooking blogs" don't show layouts at all. I have been using CM products since 2000 and firmly believe in getting it done. I have gotten a little more fancy over the years thanks to my cricut but I still prefer a clean look with some white space.

I have also been doing a lot more digi-scrapping thanks to you and the former Pixel 2 Pages free blog which you lead me to.

Thanks again for all you do! I am so glad you are not going to become a give-away blog...those have fallen off my list over time.

    Happy New Years!
