Cricut Design Studio Update Available

Happy Tuesday!  It's been a while since the Cricut Design Studio was updated with new cartridges.  I checked today and the update page lists cartridges through March (Art Deco, Chip Decor, Paper Dolls Teen Scene and Spring Cottage).

The last time I looked the cartridges from February were the latest listed (Garden Soup, Tags, Bags, Boxes and More 2, Creative Memories Divine Wedding)

Even though the page only lists updates through the March cartridges, there is good new for Design Studio users.  The To The Cabin, Over the Hill, Pretty Pennants, Paper Play, Tablescapes Spring and Summer, Wild Card 2, Out of Character, Victorian Romance and Creative Memories Be Young cartridges are also included in the update - there may be even more, I have listed the ones that I noticed that are not identified on the official download page.

To update your copy of Design Studio, just click HERE to go to the download page and then click on the second download button (Design Studio Cartridge Content update) to download the new font pack.  Be sure to SAVE the download to you computer and then RUN it to be sure the update installs properly.

This update is Version V120528

I don't know how many of you are still using Design Studio.  I use it to work with my Cricut cartridges but have spent much more time with the Silhouette software lately.  The Cricut Craftroom has not worked well for me - it often freezes or does not weld the items correctly.  Since many of the new cartridges are digital only, you need to use them with the Craftroom or a Gypsy.  I have not tried to update my Gypsy so I can't tell you if all of these cartridges have been added to the Gypsy yet.

I am putting together more photos and descriptions of the projects we did in the Tim Holtz classes and will post them soon.  Today I want to get the Simple Pages Scrapbook Challenge set up (at last!) so we can all get motivated to do more scrapbooking...

Have a great day!

  2. I truly appreciate your updates and reminders about Design Studio! I too have not gone the Gypsy route~too small for MY old eyes. I have an abundance of carts! because my friend gives me the carts to use/store after she loads them onto her Gypsy. It's a system that works for us. I find that I can alter images enough for my purposes in Design Studio.I made the decision to not switch to the Cameo even tho' I do have trouble sometimes cut fine detail on the Cricut. Overall, I'm satisfied with my Cricut.

  3. Hi Diane,
That makes three of us with old eyes staying with Design Studio and feeling the Gypsy screen is too small. I am happy with Design Studio. I found the Cricut Craftroom didn't seem to work the way I thought it should when it first came out and I never tried it again.
I have purchased a Silhouette Cameo and am very pleased with the basic program so far. I imagine when I have used it more I will purchase the upgrade.
I intend to use both machines as they have different designs. I can also find something I don't have on my cartridges that I want to use for a current project on the Cameo and download it. Instant gratification.
Thanks for letting us know about the update, although I have not bought a new cartridge in a long time.

  4. I guess most of your fans have old eyes - I bought a Gypsy, but cannot see the screen. I love Design Studio, and use it regularly - but it does not always cooperate with my Windows 7 64 bit laptop (only when it feels like and I talk nice). I only use CCR when the DS won't work and I'm in a hurry. I don't mind using CCR, but prefer to work offline and I'm so familiar with DS. In fact, I'm not sure I know how to use my cricut without DS or CCR - I have not made a direct cut in years.

  5. I also still use CDS, along with a couple other programs. Never learned how to use my CE without it. Thanks!
