Ribbon Tags Revisited

Just in case you are still shopping and wrapping presents (like me!), I thought I'd revisit the idea I shared last year for making gift tags with some of the beautiful ribbons that are available in many places this time of year.  The ribbon I used for these tags came from Costco (I often find beautiful spools of ribbon there at a very reasonable price - less than $10 for a 50 yard spool).

Please click HERE to go to the original post with the step by step directions for making tags with window openings to showcase your beautiful ribbons.

I still have some of this ribbon (the spools are very large!) so I would like to offer to send a couple of yards of ribbon to three readers.  All you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I will do a random draw to pick the three winners.  I will post the three names on Friday morning and if you get your address to me right away, the ribbon might arrive in time to use it for your gifts (if not, you can be ready early for next year!).

Just a quick post today - I am trying to catch up on all of my holiday preparations.  It was wonderful to travel to see our son and daughter-in-law after Thanksgiving but I definitely am behind schedule.  I hope to finish putting up most of the trees (except the live tree) today.  It would definitely be simpler if we didn't have so many trees but I enjoy seeing one in almost every room - I don't know which ones I'd skip!  Do you put up more than one tree?  Live or artificial?

  1. WoW I can't believe that Christmas is almost here. I only put up one tree at Christmas. Thanks for all you have shared this year and have a wonderful holiday season.

  5. I would love to have some of the ribbon from last year. I actually went to Costco just recently to what ribbon options there were for this year and I didn't find what I was hoping to find for Christmas. However I did find some ribbon in appropriate colors that does not look like Christmas and will be great for my son's wedding in 2012.

  6. Thank you for the chance to win some of that beautiful ribbon.

This year we are not putting up a big tree. It is just my hubby and me and this year we decorated with small things inside. We enjoy the decorations outside of other peoples homes.

  7. I'm with you, Dianne, lots of trees in our home. Big, little and cutesy! A couple of years ago I wasn't going to put them all up and the family rebelled. So what I have done is just simplify: I had the kids, all grown now, go thru and take to their home the ornaments they wanted. So I put up the trees now but with less ornaments :-D....The lights sparkling on what ornaments are left is to me so beautiful.

  8. I love to see Christmas everywhere in and outside of our house!I usually have trees in every room too! But this year I have had to take a break from the extreme decorating because my husband is sick and has been in the hospital. Love your blog. Your tags are beautiful and I would love to win some of that pretty ribbon

  9. Your tags are so pretty! I was working on some holiday tags in the car as we traveled to and from the Army Navy football game this last weekend. I love how you used the sparkly paper!

  11. We have 1 large tree in the living room that 3 of our grandaughters help decorate. Each year the ornaments get a little higher. We have one tree on the loft with just lights & an angel. We have a small tree in the "man cave" with fishing ornaments & red & black flannel "garland". we also have a small forest of 7 trees ranging in sizes of 2 ft to 4ft with just lights on them in one corner of our living room.

  12. We generally travel for Christmas and so don't hae a tree. This year my in-laws are coming to us and so this weekend we'll get a (live) tree up and try to find the packed decorations! You wouldn't believe how excited my 13-year old son is to (finally) decorate!

  15. I love the ideas you post that use your craft techniques for other cool items around the house. We put up one tree these days but used to put a tiny one in our son's room - one year found some tiny bubble lites about 2" tall. After he got older he would string all sorts of lights around his room in place of the tree. Have a wonderful holiday season.

  17. I have always wanted to do multiple trees, but space is limited. I do have a small 3 ft tree in the kitchen that is done in a gingerbread/cooking theme, besides the family tree.

  18. Next to paper, ribbon is another addiction of mine. This can't be healthy right? All these addictions. Thanks for the quick idea on gift tags and the chance to win some ribbon.

  19. What a thrill it would be to be one of the lucky winners to get some of this ribbon. Thank you for the chance to be in this drawing. I frequently check the ribbon at my Costco but did not see anything like this or it would have come home with me right then and there. Absolutely love the tag idea and appreciate your sharing it. Home made gifts are the BEST!

  20. I am so far behind, too! I'd love to eventually have a tree in every room. This year, we don't even have our main tree very well decorated. We have two 9 month old kittens who need to learn about the tree :D

  26. I remember your beautiful tags from last year. I added a tree on our deck this year and this was the year I was going to cut back! I only use artifical trees since my allergies won't let me have a real tree. Oh well, that's okay, I don't have to vacuum up needles in July!

  27. I remember your post from last year, too, and I remember thinking how beautiful that ribbon is. I love Costco ribbon and paper! I used to put up just 2 real trees - one that the kids decorated and one that I decorated. Now that my kids are grown, I just put up one - always a real one.

  31. I remembered this idea of yours when I was in Costo in October... and even had a roll of beautiful poinsettia ribbon in my cart! But I put it back because I didn't think I'd have enough money for it... now I'm kicking myself! Unfortunately Costco is 90 miles away and I probably won't get there again until spring! I'd love to win some from you though! Next time... I'm putting back the cleaner and keeping the ribbon! ;0)

  33. It is so funny that you revisited this. Our new Costco just opened & I went last week for the 1st time. I knew it was unlikely, but I checked to see if they might possibly have this ribbon because I loved it so much. They didn't of course, but they did have some other pretty selections.

  37. I always feel so fortunate to have discovered your blog. Thank you for all you do. It is so appreciated to have directions rather than just images, even though I know it takes much longer for you to post. Love the ribbon. We do not have a Costco, so would really love to win. I wish you a very wonderful holiday and happy, healthy new year. Pam

  46. We only put up one tree and it is artificial. I do love the smell of a fresh pine, but have to rely on candles for that scent. This year I finished wrapping presents before I put the tree up! lol. I designed tags tonight on my Gypsy and will make the tags tomorrow. Your tags look great and were my inspiration. TFS.
