CHA Day 2 - so much to see...

Saturday the show floor opened - the sensory overload is in full swing!  Everywhere you look there are amazing displays.  I had just one class on Saturday and then I started to visit the exhibits. It is a good thing that there are three more days to take it all in...

I'll just mention a few Cricut highlights - there is a new Expression, the Cricut Expression 2, Anniversary edition, with a color touch screen and the ability to cut from both original and Imagine cartridges.  Cricut CraftRoom is the new way to design with your Cricut images.  It is web based and therefore compatible with both Mac and PC and it is free!  It is still in beta but lots of work is being done to combine the best of both Design Studio and the Gypsy and make the CraftRoom available for everyone as soon as possible.  There are new Cuttlebug folders and some of them allow you to move the placement of the embossed image.

I'll have much more to share about the new Cricut products tomorrow.  I wanted to post a few things that caught my eye and show you a few photos about our Saturday activities.

We saw the new, sparkly eyed Cricut bug at the ProvoCraft booth.  If you check out the home page of Cricut.com you can see the redesigned logo and fresh look to the home page.  Mandy, Jane and I had our photo taken with the bug...

and Enfys preferred the plush toy version we got later in the day at the "Birthday Bash."

I thought this stack of pillows was a lot of fun - it reminded me of the Princess and the Pea.  The show is not just for papercrafting - knitting, needlework, jewelry making, quilting and other types of hobbies are represented.

I was lucky enough to meet Julie Comstock (Cosmo Cricket) and Anna Griffin (the ever-so-elegant Anna Griffin).  It is great to  see and meet the people behind your favorite products.  They were kind enough to pose for a photo with me (thank you Julie and Anna!).

Julie has designed a new line of products for EKSuccess that she refers to as "fashion crafting" and it is amazing.  You can read more about it HERE.  These won't be available for a little while longer but I know I'll be eager to buy some of them.

I have lots of ideas about how to use these beautiful things...

It was the end of the day but I asked about the Glubers (see THIS POST on the Cosmo Cricket blog).

Julie actually gave me a quick demo and made one of her beautiful flowers for me.

After the show closed we went to the Birthday Bash to celebrate the fifth birthday of Cricut.  There was a giant card to sign.

Jane and Mandy met Teresa Collins who posed for a photo with them.. She was so sweet and friendly.  It is great to know that she has designed both an Imagine and and Expression cartridge - I am sure they will be fantastic ones full of frames and flourishes.

Some of the people at the party had a chance to go back to their hotels and change - can you guess who has the flower on her toes...?

...none other than Jinger.  She did her famous hair flip on stage near the end of the show...

...and what a show it was!  A couple of videos and then some live dancing.  Jim Thornton (ProvoCraft CEO) did a little bit of dancing...

and then we saw several dancers from the show "So You Think You Can Dance" who did amazing hip hop.  At the end of their set, there was a bit of  a dance competition...

and Jim Thornton was declared the winner by an applause vote.

Here is one more pretty thing I saw - more details and an update coming tomorrow...

  14. I heard from one of the ProvoCraft people that the jukebox has been discontinued and there is some type of replacement in the works to use with design studio - can you see what you can find out about that?

  17. I enjoyed reading this posting and found myself wishing I was there. I am sure you will provide all the wonderful details. The pictures you provided of the embellishments is awesome. My husband is in the process of building up my shelving for the “craft room” when he is finished, I will start to slowly, (very slowly) stock with the necessary embellishments for a few projects I already have planned out.

    Thanks for sharing!!!
