A trip to Cape Cod

I hope you are having a great weekend.  We drove to Cape Cod last night and will spend a few days with our family exploring the area, eating seafood, and relaxing on the beach.  Of course, I still will have my eyes out for design inspiration and treasures (there is a flea market on Sunday morning and I definitely want to check it out).

We got here too late for me to pull out the computer (so if you are an email subscriber this post missed the early morning feed).  I wanted to share a few photos of the interesting wall hanging in the living room of the house we are renting.

The black and orange background is randomly pieced and there are lots of different types of fish made from scraps of fabric.

There are primitive stiches in zig zags and simple straight stitches connecting sections.

Most of the fabrics are cotton, but there are a few bits and pieces of wool (there is a circle of tweed on this fish).

I'll be taking lots of photos of the area, and storing up some ideas for future projects.  It is nice to be on a trip only a couple of hours from home.  You don't have to go far away to have a break from your usual routines (no trip to the dry cleaners or yard chores for my husband today!).

Where do you like to vacation?  Do you go far from home or stay relatively nearby?  I hope you have something fun planned for this summer!

  1. Oh Diane, store these memories like "Frederick the Field Mouse" to bring back when your son and his wife move away. Enjoy.

  4. I'll be on the cape next week. I can't wait. I and my extended family rent a beach house in N.Truro every year. It's so much fun.

  5. We used to take big family vacations when our girls were little, but now that we are older (old) my husband is too crippled to go anywhere anymore, so sad. Life whizzzes by so fast. Enjoy your family times while you can.
