Vintage Halloween Kit of the Month from Creative Charms

Today is my day to post  projects on the Creative Charms blog - I was asked to used the new Vintage Halloween Kit of the Month for October.  I got a bit carried away and did three projects and I will be posting the details in separate posts throughout the day.

Pennants and banners seem to be everywhere I look lately.  I think this trend is fun and playful so I decided to make a card with a little banner across the top.  I used the Country Life cartridge and adapted the pennants to fit an A2 card in Design Studio.

I wanted the pennants to hang freely so I needed to be sure they were securely adhered.  Scor-Tape is just the right thing to hold tightly and it is so quick and easy to use - no drying time!

I thought the top of the card seemed a little unfinished so I added some orange and white polka dot ribbon.  Scor-tape is also great for ribbon since it does not bleed through as some liquid adhesives will.

I didn't want to wrap the ribbon around the card so I made sure the tape went right to the ends of a piece a bit too long for the card and then trimmed the edges flush to the edge.

I added some of the new Halloween Vintage Frames at the top of each pennant.

Then I added some little ghosts from my stash of punched shapes (I punch shapes from any small scraps before I toss them) but I decided this was too busy and took them off again (they are sticking to my lamp right now so you will probably see them soon!)   To my eye, there was still something not quite right about the card.

I kept looking at the card and finally decided that there was too much yellow - so...

...I added a green layer beneath the pennants.  This toned down the yellow and gave a better contrast to the orange edges of the pennants.

A few gradient gem stickers finish off the tips of the pennants.

I also added gem stickers to the ends of the ribbon.  Aren't these Vintage Frames great!  Even better they are available as "blanks" so you can make your own.  I'll be showing some projects with my custom frames next week.

Halloween Card with Pennants

If you want to get a sneak peek at the other two projects you can see them on the Creative Charms blog at THIS POST.  Check back later through the day for the full details and files.

My friends Joy (Obsessed with Scrapbooking) and Melanie (Courtney Lane Designs) contacted me this weekend to let me know that they are showcasing the two exclusive Creative Memories cartridges (Reminisce Accents and Cheerful Seasons) this week.  I am a Creative Memories consultant and they asked if they could link to me in case some of their readers were interested in buying the cartridges but did not have a consultant.

In a case of perfect timing I am happy to help anyone who would like these cartridges (if you don't already have a consultant).  I have an ambitious goal to sell at least 40 cartridges this month so I can qualify to be in a contest to win a spot on the Cricut Cruise.  You know I'd love to go along with my "twin" Okie!  Please contact me if you have any questions about the cartridges or how to order them.  I used the Reminisce Accents cartridge for one of my Creative Charms projects today.

Check back later today for the other project posts - I think it will be a very busy day for me as I get all of these files ready to post!
