"Love You" Printed Heart Card (free image to share)

Yesterday I shared some of the hearts I have been working with for various projects.

This is one of the cards that I made from the "Love You" heart that I designed.  I  uploaded the hearts to Cricut Design Space and printed and cut the shapes.

I sized the hearts at 4 inches high and was able to print two on a page by rotating one 180 degrees and attaching the two shapes.  Be sure to rotate and not flip or you will end up with the words printed in reverse (ask me how I know this...!).

I made a 5 x 7 inch card.  In this photo you can see my first choice of the top layer paper for the card.

I ended up switching to the opposite side when I was assembling the card.  The plaid side was a less distracting background for the special heart.

I finally used some ribbon that I bought a few years ago to outline the heart.  First I put two sections of Scor-Tape on the back of my printed image.  You need to make little pleats with the tape to go around the curves at the top.

I peeled back just a little of the backing of the tape at a time to make it easier to add the ribbon without getting it stuck to the wrong spot.

This ribbon has stitching down the center which I used as a guide for lining up the ribbon as I went around the edge with the ribbon.

I tried to make one of the loops of the ribbon trim line up exactly with the bottom of the heart.  Then I started peeling off the second strip of tape and finished the rest of the heart.

Here is the back of the heart once I had finished applying the ribbon.  I like this look - I just couldn't apply the ribbon to the front of the printed heart without hiding some of the words.

I like the idea of using something other than another paper layer to make the heart stand out.  I also have lots and lots of ribbon and trim that I have been unpacking so I want to start using more of it!

I tilted the heart at a slight angle and placed the tip of the ribbon at one of the dark red intersections of the plaid paper.  I used foam squares to raise the heart from the card front, keeping it level with the ribbon.

This color combination just makes me think of candy!

I used the second heart with the gradient color and white letters for another project.  I will post that soon along with the PNG file for that heart.

You can download the PNG file for this heart HERE.

When you upload the image to Design Space it will not need the background "cleaned up" since it is a PNG file with a transparent background.  You should choose "complex image" to keep the detail as clear as possible.

If you download and use this image, please let me see what you make with it!
