English Garden Hello Card

My craft island has become a craft volcano!  Too many projects and not enough time spent putting things away.  If you are a newer reader of my blog you may have missed the construction of the island last summer - this LINK will take you to the posts about the island (you probably should scroll down to the oldest post and work your way forward). I challenged myself to make a quick card using only bits and pieces that were on the island.  This is the card I came up with.

The strawberry paper is from this paper pad that I found on sale a while ago.  I am not sure if it is a discontinued design but I could not find it on the Making Memories website.

The font used for the name of the pad looked very familiar.  I have seen variations of this font in many places lately.

I think it looks a lot like the Cricut Songbird font (a cartridge that is still on my wishlist).  In this Design Studio screen shot you can see how nicely this font welds.

Back to the card...here are all of the components.  I used an A2 ivory cardstock base.  The first layer is cut at 4 x 5 1/4 inches in blue and the second layer is cut at 3 3/4 x 5 inches in the strawberry floral paper.  I cut a strip of the same blue at 5 x 3/4 inches.  I also added a scalloped circle that was punched with the Creative Memories large punch.

The scalloped circle is 2 inches and punched from some distressed pink paper in the same paper pad.  You could easily cut this with the Cricut, however, the punch happened to be contributing to the clutter on the island.  I did make an adjustable .cut file for a similar scalloped circle a while ago - here is a LINK to the post if you would like to try the file.

The final two items used on the card are a piece of satin ribbon (3/8 inch wide) and  "hello" cut in glitter cardstock using the Cuttlebug Everyday Greetings combo set (this was also sitting on my island from a project I did a few weeks ago).

I used my ATG tape on the back of the ribbon and adhered it to the strip.

The ribbon is securely attached by folding over the ends on the back - the tape will hold the ends securely.

The card is now ready for the final embellishment and sentiment.

I used foam squares to raise up the scalloped circle with the hello.  These have been on the island for a while and I don't seem to have the packaging.  I wish I had the outer wrapper so I could tell you the brand - these are hard to work with and I will be glad when the pack is used up!

The glittered "hello" and the shine of the satin ribbon create just enough sparkle for this simple but pretty card.  I made the card and completed the challenge but now I really do have to clean up the rest of the island and the entire space.  I think I should commit to a certain day to give a tour - but I will think about it a bit more...I will need a fair bit of time to unearth the rest of the tables!

Are you following the Scrappy-Go-Lucky blog hop so you can have a chance to win some great prizes, including a Grand Prize of FOUR Cricut cartridges (Cindy Loo, Freshly Picked, Mini Monsters and Wall Decor & More)?  Design Team member Jane (Scossie Jane) posted today  - here is a LINK to her post so you see her fabulous projects and collect another clue toward the grand prize.  You'll also need to visit the Scrappy-Go-Lucky blog HERE for another clue - I hope you are good at anagrams (word jumbles)!  My project and clue will go up Tuesday night (which will be Wednesday a.m. in Perth, Australia)

I am spending a lot of time driving these days since our younger son is doing an internship in a location that is not easy to get to by public transportation from our home.  I have a lot of projects going on this week as well so please be patient if I don't get to your email or comment for a while - I do try to catch up with everything eventually!

  6. What a beautiful card and fairly simple! I just got married and I'm thinking of making individual thank you cards for each person. It is a fairly small list so it shouldn't be too bad and that way I could use up bits and bobs that I have. This is a good template for those cards! Thanks. PS: I went back and looked at your craft island. Amazing!!!
