Adding Layers with "hide selected contour"

There are so many interesting thing you can do with "hide selected contour" in Design Studio, and now, the Gypsy.  One of the things I like to do is to add layers to make more colorful designs.

I started with this image on the Cindy Loo cartridge and made it full page size.

This is the image as it appears on the cartridge.

I hid the flower centers and interior petals to create a new second layer.

This is how the layer will cut - blacking out certain areas.

The bottom layer is cut from the cartridge image set.

Adding the new second layer gives you lots of options - you can even add more layers if you'd like to have a more complicated design.  You can see the difference in the images as designed on the cartridge (above) and with a new layer added (below).

Remember, you can create a blackout version of any design that has interior lines with this technique,

Here is one more example, once again from the Cindy Loo cartridge.

I started with this image.

The lace is very open and airy.

I hid many lines in the outer areas of the design to create solid areas.

Here is the new second layer

The bottom layer is straight from the cartridge.

Once again, here is the original design (above) and the design with an added layer (below).

You can add more layers by hiding different areas.

Here a third layer has the central areas hidden.

Here is what this layer looks like alone.  This would be lovely for a special photo or to make a title page for an album.

Here is a preview of all of the layers combined.

If you are not sure how to use "hide selected contour" there are Gypsy instructions at THIS POST and a video showing how to use this function in Design Studio HERE.

There are lots of possibilities - have fun experimenting with the different effects you can create!

I hope you have been visiting the Cuttlebug Challenge blog this week to see all of the lovely wedding items the Design Team has created.  Just click this image to go directly to the blog.  You can also win some fabulous prizes, including a Cricut Cake, a CGull bag and some of the wonderful Teresa Collins paper that we have been using for the wedding projects so be sure to follow and comment for the chance to win.
