Post Birthday Post...

Happy Monday and thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes here, by email and on Facebook.  Mandy gave me a break for my birthday but next week I will be back posting on Mondays on the Scrappy-Go-Lucky blog.

If you want a treat, be sure to check out Mandy's Sunday post with great details on how she made this fabulous card.  Isn't the woven basket amazing and the flowers are so perky and pretty!  You'll find that post HERE. You will also enjoy the card that her darling little daughter Sophie made HERE.

I just have to share this quilt that my sister-in-law made for me.  She started it a long time ago and finished it up to give to me this year.  Isn't it beautiful?  Thanks Melanie!

This may not look very glamorous but here is my "big" present - something I have been wanting for a long time.  The lighting in my studio is not very good and involves turning many lamps on and off as I come and go to use the space.  These boxes hold new fixtures for overhead lighting that will make it possible for me to see much better and to conserve electricity by making it easy to just hit a light switch or two to shut everything off.  With a little luck the electrician will be able to install them before I leave on my trip.

My husband and family prepared the birthday dinner so I had a chance to spend a little time playing around with some glimmer mist and inks.  Here is a peek at one of the things I am working on - I definitely had sparkly hands for my birthday party!

I'll be attending the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) trade show (and the first day of the consumer show) in Chicago next week.  I'll do my best to let you all know about the new things that I see there.  I'll be in town from Sunday to Thursday so please let me know if any of you are going to be there - maybe we can meet up!

I hope you have a happy and creative day!

  1. Happy belated birthday. That's a beautiful quilt that your sister made for you. Now to find a place to hang it? Lighting is so important when crafting. I'm glad you are putting in the ones you want!

  3. Love the quilt that your sister-in-law made for you!! And I think your new lighting is a great birthday present - one that you'll appreciate every day :) I recently had a birthday & have asked for my scraproom to be "re-done" so that I'm taking full advantage of the space that I have; it'll be a project, but again, one that I will enjoy every day!

  4. What a gorgeous quilt. Yes, you're going to have to frame it. Oh if only I were going to CHA wich is my dream. I'm aiming for the winter show! Have fun and bring back lots of new ideas.

  6. Oh Diane, the lights will be so wonderful for your scrappy space! I have some on my wish list too, and try to hint to my electrician brother (Marebear's DH!) but I'm just on his long list of favors to grant :) The quilt is stunning, you certainly are blessed.

  8. I live in the Chicago area and plan to go to the consumer show. Haven't firmed up my plans, but would love to try to meet up. I'm only only 40 minutes away on any day (as long as it isn't rush hour ;- )
