A quick digital tip for creating new papers...

I am eagerly waiting for my two new Creative Memories exclusive Cricut cartridges to arrive.  While I wait, I decided to purchase and download the two digital Power Palettes that coordinate with the cartridges.

This is the Reminisce Power Palette

Here is the Cheerful Power Palette

I think both of these sets will be very useful for some projects I am working on.  If you have Creative Memories StoryBook Creator Plus 3.0 you can use this content in the program.  I wish that it would be possible to use them in the new Cricut Imagine machine when it arrives.

I was just trying out a bit of the Cheerful content and made the image at the top of this post.  I thought I'd show you how I created the "plaid" paper.

There is a striped paper in the palette in some of my favorite shades of blue, purple and green.  You can see it in the background here.

To create the plaid I added a second piece of paper, rotated it 90 degrees and changed the opacity to 50%.  You can see how this piece of paper looks by itself in the background here.

When both layers are active the background paper looks like this - in just a couple of quick steps you have created a new paper.  It is important that the horizontal layer at 50% opacity is above the vertical layer to get the plaid effect.

To save time for future projects, you can group the two layers and then save this new paper as digital content in the program.  You can adjust the hue and create even more variations of the paper (one example is above).

I used a similar procedure to create this paper with the Reminisce palette.

This was the original paper.  I added a second piece and rotated it 180 degrees.

Then I changed the opacity to 50%.  When the two are layered an entirely new paper is created.

Once again there is infinite variety when you group and adjust the hue.  This new paper can be saved and used over and over again.

Creating new papers and manipulating the existing content to produce unexpected results is one of my favorite things to do with digital scrapbooking.  Once you purchase a kit the possibilities are truly endless.

Believe it or not I have hardly finished unpacking and regrouping from my trip to Wisconsin and CHA and I am on my way again tomorrow to a family celebration in North Carolina.   Unfortunately the plane ride took a toll and I have been moving slowly due to some pain in my leg.  I haven't had a chance to try out my new purchases so they will have to wait until I return again next week.

  4. That's very cool. I'll have to send the link to your blog to my daughter. She does a lot of digital scrapbooking and is now beginning to design for a couple of digital scrapbook companies.

  6. As I said in a previous post, you are just SO creative! I would never even think to do some of the things that you come up with! And as far as the pain in your leg after your last plane ride, do please get that checked out. It might be a deep vein thrombosis.
