Love Card with Reminisce Accents cartridge

I made this quick card using the new Reminisce Accents cartridge.  The frames on this cartridge are very reminiscent (sorry!) of the labels on the Lacy Labels Cricut Lite cartridge. With such lovely details in the cuts you just need to choose papers you like and add a bit of embellishment for a simple but very elegant card.  This card could be used for a wedding, an anniversary or even as a Valentine.

The frame I used is on page 73 of the cartridge handbook (on the key for embellishment 13).  I set the size at 3 1/2 inches.  I used Core'dinations Gemstone cardstock for all three layers.  This cardstock is a favorite of mine because it has a lovely shine and cuts well in the Cricut.  I used multi cut 2 for the top two layers to get a clean cut.

In this close view you can see how nicely the intricate layers cut.  I had my speed at medium, pressure high and blade at 6.

The word "love" for the center of the card is from page 69 (on the key for scroll 10).  I measured the opening inside the frame and used "fit to length" to cut the word.  The machine calculated the height at 3/4 inch.

The base card is a textured Bazzill cardstock in purple in the A2 size (5 1/2 x 8 1/2 inches scored and folded in half for a 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch card).  I used a lot of foam squares to support the heavy medallion and add dimension to the card.

I accented the word and the frame with some gradient gem stickers in pearl from Creative Charms (here is a LINK to the page on their site where you can find these).  I used all three sizes and went a little "pearl crazy"!

Here is one more view of the card.  This card is quick and easy to make but the intricate cut makes it look like you spent a lot of time working on it.

I am sure that I will be using this cartridge a lot - there are 50 of these great frames and I haven't even started on the borders yet!  If you would like to read my review of the Creative Memories exclusive cartridges you can find it HERE.  If you are interested in purchasing either of the Creative Memories cartridges and don't have a consultant I would be happy to help you - here is a LINK to the page for the cartridges on my Creative Memories personal website.

I am still trying to catch up with emails and questions - if you have sent me a message that hasn't been answered please don't hesitate to send another note since things sometimes get lost or buried when my mailbox is so full.  I have been having a lot of trouble with sciatica and wasn't able to do much crafting today.  It is extremely painful and seems to have been aggravated by all of the traveling I have been doing.  I am going to start some physical therapy to try to deal with this problem - wish me luck!

  1. Hope you get some relief with the physical therapy. Great little frame on this cart. I like the Co-ordinations paper but have never found any locally to purchase. It's on my list though!

  3. Pretty card! I used to suffer from sciatica all the time. Ouch! I'm sure you've heard plenty of suggestions, but I'll add mine. I switched to sitting on a large exercise ball 4 years ago and have had no sciatic, hip, back or joint pain since. I'm 5'9", so it's a large ball. I bought a $15 base frame to keep it from rolling around the office. My whole family and several office staff are converts. Hope you feel better soon!

  6. i got my two carts yesterday. thank you diane. you're my new cm consultant. (never had one) i have a question. you said you measured the opening inside the frame. what do you mean??? i cut love using just the fit to length feature and it cut it too big. actually 1". so i had to cut it again and i just used what you said it calculated at 3/4". i'm not understanding this as this is the first time i've used this button.

  8. Hi Kat,

I used my clear ruler to measure the size of the opening. The opening was just under 3 1/2 inches at the widest point so I used "fit to length" at 3 inches thinking I wanted it to be a bit smaller in width. I watched the LED screen to see what size was calculated (3/4 inch height).

The funny thing is I just measured the length of the word and it is 2 3/4 inches. I believe this means that the maximum size that would fit in the length of 3 inches is the cut at 3/4 inches so fit to length does not make the cut exactly the length you put in but rather the size that will fit in the space at the next regular increment the machine will cut on its own.

This is why I love using Design Studio - I can see exactly how the word will look in the space and adjust it along a spectrum that does not break at set increments.

  10. diane, yup, i understand now how you did it. i was thinking because the cut was at 3 1/2" the machine would automatically fit that word into the space. so in the future, i'll know to measure my space and adjust the size accordingly, then hit the 'fit to length' feature. i too, love ds for this reason. i haven't just used the E by itself in so long, i feel like a newbie. i use ds for everything i cut. lol
thank you so much, now on to more crafting. will be glad when all the updates are updated!

  14. Love the card- it's beautiful! The colors are fantastic and the pearls, well they add just the right touch!

BTW I am a physical therapist and we do have good success with sciatica, but it may be a little bit of trial and error at first to see how your body responds. Hope it all goes well.

I am going to be ordering the update to mem manager from you real soon. My husband is a computer guy so I will let deal with it, when he has time.

  15. Diane, I swear we have had a voodoo doll stuck into both of us at the same time. Everytime you say you have something wrong with you I am suffering from the same thing. Last winter it was the flu and now it's sciatica! You just have to stop gettting these ailments because it's killing me. I don't want surgery, but if this pain doesn't go away I'm going to have to think along those lines. Love your card by the way.
