Simple Season's Greetings and Sales!

 

The Holiday Season is upon us - it seems like summer just ended a few weeks ago and now there are only 29 days left until Christmas!  This is the simple card that I couldn't upload the other day.  I used the Imagine again - it is always fun to experiment with something new!  Please remember that most of the projects I show that are made using the Imagine can be recreated using your regular Cricut and cartridges and patterned paper.  They won't be exactly the same but the layout and concepts can easily be transferred.

I used a frame shape from the Imagine More cartridge and separated the layers.  I filled the layers with patterns from the Snow Angel cartridge that I had cached in the machine.  You can cache up to three papers and use them with images from another cartridge (you will find a quick explanation of the process in THIS POST).  The Christmas tree image is from the Snow Angel cartridge as well.

I added some red Stickles glitter glue to the tree on each red dot.  This is another way to add sparkle if you don't have any sticker gems handy.

When I printed and cut the tree, I used a textured cardstock.  There are lots of ways to vary the print produced by the Imagine by varying the color and texture of paper you choose to print on.

 I simply layered the frame directly on the card (Scarlet Jewel cardstock from Papertrey Ink) and then used foam squares to pop up the tree.

 A simple silver "peel off" greeting finishes the card.  I could have added more layers and complexity to the card with embossing and stitching and other time consuming methods but sometimes a straightforward and simple card is just as effective and will lower your stress level when you are trying to make a large quantity of cards to send for the holidays.  Each additional step, when multiplied by the number of cards you are producing will greatly increase the total time it will take to finish your cards.  So keep it simple and remember, sometimes "finished is better than perfect!"

Happy Thanksgiving

I want to wish each and every one of you a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I know some of you live in countries where this is not a holiday but it is a wonderful tradition to take the time to stop and be thankful for all that we have.  Our sons are both in Japan so this is an odd year for us - truly an empty nest - but we have lots of other family in the area and will enjoy the holiday with them.  Stay safe if you are traveling and have fun! 

Good luck at the sales if you are a Black Friday shopper - I don't think I'll be going out this year.

I haven't had a chance to cut out this card that I designed a couple of weeks ago.  The images are all from the Thanksgiving seasonal cartridge.  I'll share the file as soon as I get a chance to test it.

I'm going on a cruise!

I am so excited  to let you all know that I just had a call from Creative Memories and they gave me the most wonderful news - I am the winner of the Cricut Cruise!!!!

Thank you so much to all of you who kept up with voting for my layout each day.  I really appreciate the support and the lovely comments as well as the messages of support from those of you who don't have Facebook and couldn't vote.  I promise there will be lots of photos and tales of "The Adventures of Cap and Okie (the evil twins meet at sea!)" - along with all of the other Cricut Cruisers - next February.

I did have a new project to post today, however, Blogger keeps giving me a "server rejected" message when I try to upload my new photos.  I've tried on different browsers and different computers with no luck.  So - since most of you (at least the US readers) will be getting ready for the Thanksgiving holiday - here is a picture from last year of the mini turkey dinner pop up punch from Martha Stewart.  I know it's silly but I don't like to make a post without at least one photo - I don't think I ever have...

Voting on the Creative Memories Cruisin' with Cricut contest was to end Tuesday night.  I am up past midnight because of the photo uploading problem and the site still is in the voting phase so I don't know which time zone was used - I am guessing Central since Creative Memories is located in Minnesota.  I also am not sure whether the results will be available tomorrow - the original information given to the finalists was that the winner would be notified on the 29th but the contest site says winners announced on the 24th.  So I will have to look in the morning (or maybe wait until next week).

I do want to say thanks again to everyone who voted and sent me encouraging messages.  It was an interesting and somewhat stressful experience to be in a contest like this.  I don't think I will enter another contest that is judged by a vote instead of by judges anytime soon.  I didn't like to have to keep asking for votes and reminding everyone to vote.  I tried to make a good page and I was very happy with my entry and I plan to continue with this album about the women in my family so that is one very good result of the contest!

I want to let you know that the Creative Charms sale has actually started already and will continue until Sunday night - so have fun shopping!  Since I can grab photos by their URLs, here is the revised "poster" with all of the details.

Many of you know that I have been having pretty severe leg and back pain for quite a few months.  Tomorrow (Wednesday) I will be having a procedure done to try to help relieve the pain.  It is a quick outpatient process and I should be fine - maybe it will even help.  I just wanted you to know that if the contest results do go up in the morning I won't be here to see them - I'll be at the hospital.  If Blogger and my back cooperate I'll have a couple of things to post later on Wednesday.  Good luck with all your holiday preparations!

Joy Banner Card for Scrappy-Go-Lucky

The Country Life cartridge has a great banner feature.  With a little adjustment in Design Studio or with the Gypsy, you can create a mini banner for a card.

For this simple and cheerful card I used the DCWV Christmas 12 x 12 stack, some Core'dinations Gemstone cardstock and the "joy" stickers from the Creative Charms Multi-Dimensional Christmas Twinkle Stickers.

 I created this card for Scrappy-Go-Lucky and you can get all of the details and download the file at THIS POST  on the Scrappy-Go-Lucky blog.  With just a few cuts and embellishments you have a very merry card!  You could punch your own one inch circles or add different embellishments to the pennants if you wanted to vary the design.

I used the same concept for this Halloween card, substituting the spiky pennant background for the scalloped layer.  The file for this card is on my blog at THIS POST.

Here is a baby card variation using the same file as the Joy card.  I used some epoxy stickers, polka-dot ribbon, and gem stickers on the tips of the pennants.
