Don't Miss Layout A Day in May

1

Happy Tuesday!  Did you miss me while I was away?  We arrived home late last night and I have a lot of catching up to do.

I haven't been through all of my email but I did see a couple of things that I wanted to share right away.  Lain Ehmann is offering another great free scrapinar this month that sounds like a lot of fun.

Windy Robinson, Paper Crafts Magazine's Go-To Gal will be the featured guest on April 23rd.  Windy will show how to create gorgeous hand-crafted and hand-embellished envelopes and mail art.  The lucky recipients and even the mail carrier will be sure to smile at something this special arriving with the regular delivery.  You can find out all about the scrapinar and sign up HEREBe sure to sign up even if you have a conflict on the date - a replay will be available but only for a limited time and only for those who have registered ahead of time.

The Layout a Day (LOAD) program that Lain is offering in May is nearly full.  Last month I signed up to participate in this challenge to create a scrapbook page every day for a month.  It includes 31 daily videos, 31 daily prompts, and 31 sample layouts, and begins May 1.

If you were thinking of signing up last month but didn't get around to it and missed the early bird discount I have good news.  Lain sent me a code to offer to friends and family - you can save $10 off LOAD 513 registration just by using the code FNF at checkout.  Click HERE to go to the registration page and be sure to do it right away - spaces are nearly full and the code is only good until midnight (Eastern) on April 10th (that's tomorrow!)

Here are a few photos from my trip - I think you will probably be able to guess where I was...

Maybe I'll be able to use some of the photos from my trip for the LOAD pages - it would be great to get them finished within a month!  I hope that some more of you will take up this challenge.

If you can identify any of my photo locations (there are a few tricky ones...) just leave a comment with each photo number and your guess.  If you have been on Spring Break where did you go?

  1. Looks like you were in San Fran visiting your son & daughter in law - I recognize the Monterey coast and the Trans America building. Makes me jealous because my daughter is not too far away in Davis, CA and I am in PA.

    1. Yes - we were in California for a quick getaway. It is such a long distance from coast to coast. I hope you get a chance to see your daughter soon!

    1. I'd love to go there someday but we were only gone for six days - too short a time to go that far!

  3. The first photo gave it away for me. Looks like at least it was sunny.

    1. We were really lucky with the weather. Just a little rain and that was mostly overnight or on the day we were at the museum.

  4. You must have been in San Francisco visiting your son and daughter-in-law! The first picture must have been taken in Monterey. Second picture, hmmm.... Did you go to the Botanical Gardens in San Francisco? Third picture is of the Transamerica Building in San Francisco. You must have taken this photo in Chinatown! Fourth picture looks like you went to the Stanford Theater in Palo Alto - I know they're showing all of Hitchcock's movies now. Fifth picture is of the lovely coastline along Highway 1. And the sixth picture looks like you must have either stopped at one of the tidepools along Highway 1, or perhaps you went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium? Or the Aquarium of the Bay in San Francisco?

    1. Hi Wendy - The photo of the Lone Cyprus was in Carmel along the 17 Mile Drive, the next was in the garden of the Mission at San Juan Bautista - it was so funny to us to see lilacs and cactus together. Transamerica building from Chinatown (that was an easy one!). The Hitchcock was also taken at the Mission in San Juan Bautista - where part of Vertigo was filmed. Highway 1 coastline - amazing landscape and big waves! The last photo is actually sea life at the Monterey Aquarium. There is so much to see every time we go to California!

  5. I admit I have an unfair advantage as I live in the SF Bay Area. Photo 1 is in Union Square in SF. Photo 2 is of the Lone Cyprus on the 17 Mile Drive in Carmel. Is photo 3 taken at the Botanical Gardens in Golden Gate Park? Photo 4 is looking up at the Transamerica Pyramid from China town. Was photo 5 taken on the Vertigo Movie tour in San Francisco? Is photo 6 Monterey Bay from Highway 1? The last photo is from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. This was fun.

    1. Great job Priscilla! Photo 3 was tricky because it could be lots of places but it was actually in the garden of the Mission at San Juan Bautista. We thought it was so funny to see lilacs and cactus together - doesn't happen in Massachusetts! Photo 5 was also at the San Juan Bautista Mission - where they filmed part of the movie Vertigo. 6 was on Highway 1 and the last was at the Aquarium. You live in a beautiful area!

    1. Thanks Donna - it was a nice trip. It's a little tough to get back in the swing of things here at home (I'll blame it on jet lag for a day or two!). I hope you get to go there again soon...
