Happy Monday! I am happy to be helping my friend Enfys celebrate some milestones on her blog Going Buggy. Today is also my day to post to the Creative Charms blog so be sure to pop over to see what the Creative Charms Design Team has been up to lately.
First things first - here is the blog hop information direct from Enfys (I copied and pasted to be sure I got it right!).
If you arrived here all the way from Mandy in Australia, you are in the right place. All you have to do is click to follow me, leave a comment under this post and pick up the letter
T
Then you can hop on over to Nikky in the UK
I used one of the borders from the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge to create this card. The borders on the Martha Stewart cartridges are one of my favorite things - I love my Martha Stewart punches and now I can work with a lot of the designs but adapt them to fit my needs. Mandy has all of the Martha Stewart cartridges available at Scrappy-Go-Lucky for any Australian readers who would like to add these great cartridges to their collection (here is a LINK).I know that Enfys has a special prize for the blog hop and I also will be offering a gift to one of the blog hop visitors who leaves a comment on this post. The rules for this blog hop do ask that you follow each blog along the way and leave a comment.
I changed the height and width to 4.25 x 11 inches and centered the cut on my mat. I used some Bazzil cardstock for the card base and since it is fairly think and there were lots of little cuts I did a 2 times multi cut. A few people have asked about how to do a multi-cut in Design Studio. Just go to the "Preferences" menu and the top of the screen and choose multi-cut at the bottom of the list - you will have a choice of 2, 3 or 4 times pop out to the right and you simply click on the number of times you want. I rarely use more than 2 times unless the material I am cutting is very thick.
The card is a little unusual because there are cut out hearts on both the front and the back.
You could use the card as it was cut and decorate it but I decided to create a liner for the card. I used the shadow version of the cut and adapted it to be just a tiny bit smaller than the card.
As you can see, the difference in size is tiny but just enough to keep the liner from sticking out unattractively around the edges of the card.
To add the liner, I placed adhesive on the inside front of the card. Then I put the folded liner inside the card and closed the front to adhere it to the liner. This way you can keep things nice and straight.
By adhering the liner only to the front of the card you avoid any problems with the liner bunching up or making the card difficult to open and close. You also have a little extra space to write a message on the inside.
For the sentiment on the front of the card I used this cut on the Martha Stewart Seasonal Cake Art cartridge. I did adapt it with Design Studio to fit the card.
When you enter the sentiment directly from the cartridge at 2 1/4 inches it is far too long to fit on the card. I used the right center handle to "squeeze" the words to a narrower width. The sentiment is still easy to read.
I added two shades of gradient pearl stickers from Creative Charms to the rows of hearts. I also put a pearl on each of the capital letters in the sentiment. The patterned paper is from K and Company and is cut at 2 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches and centered on the card front.
Using two colors of pearls in groups of three gives the card just a bit more interest. I alternated the groups so there are two white and one pink at the top and two pink and one white at the bottom.
The finishing touch was the addition of two thin silver "peel off" strips at the top and bottom of the strip of patterned paper. This adds a bit of shine and tidies up the edges.
If you complete the blog hop, figure out the answer from all the letters and post your comment to Going Buggy, Enfys has a great prize...
...a year's subscription to Papercraft Inspirations magazine! Just so you know - Enfys is a frequent contributor to this magazine and that is her Santa card on the cover. Isn't it fun to know a "Cover Girl"!
Here is the gift that one person will win from me - two packs of gradient pearl stickers (one white and one pink) and some cute (and strong) heart shaped magnets. Just follow and leave your comment and I will choose a winner by random draw at the end of the hop (Sunday, the 23rd).
I had some unexpected things come up so I hope to post the follow up on the questions from my Everyday Cricut Guest Designer week later today or tomorrow. I can show you what occupied some of my time yesterday when I finally get to do the post.
